Cubic Mage — End User License Agreement
Last updated: November 5, 2026
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and Keunwon Kim, known on Steam as KEVI, making games as HolyFox Games ("we", "us"), and covers Cubic Mage, including its demo, updates, and any related content (the "Game"). By installing or playing the Game, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or play the Game.
This Agreement applies in addition to the Steam Subscriber Agreement. If the two conflict on how you obtained the Game through Steam, the Steam Subscriber Agreement applies.
1. License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and play the Game for your own non-commercial entertainment, on devices you own or control, through the platform you obtained it from.
The Game is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights, title, and interest in the Game, including its code, art, music, characters, and text.
2. What you may not do
Except where the law allows it despite this restriction, or as Section 4 allows for mods, you may not:
- copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense, or distribute the Game or any part of it;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Game, or make derivative works from its files, except to make or run mods as Section 4 allows;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other notices;
- use cheats, bots, or exploits that harm other players' experience in online sessions;
- use the Game, or the feedback features in it, to harass others or to upload unlawful content.
3. Videos, streams, and screenshots
You may stream the Game, record and publish gameplay videos, and share screenshots, including monetizing them on platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, as long as you do not imply that we endorse you, and you do not distribute the Game itself or its asset files, modified or not, except as Section 4 allows for mods. This also applies to content showing gameplay with mods; Section 4's ban on earning money from mods does not cover it.
4. Mods
You may create, use, and share non-commercial mods for the Game. A "mod" is an add-on or change that needs a lawfully obtained copy of the Game to run.
Reverse engineering is allowed for modding. Solely to make or run a mod, you may, as an exception to Section 2, on your own devices:
- inspect, reverse engineer, decompile, and disassemble the Game's code, and extract and modify its assets;
- change how the Game behaves while it runs, for example by patching or hooking its code;
- make the changes to your own installed copy of the Game that the mod needs.
This exception does not cover third-party components (Section 13), whose own licenses apply.
Mods, and the people who make them, must follow these rules:
- A mod may not include or redistribute the Game's original files or decompiled code, except short code excerpts that a patch needs in order to work. It may include modified versions of the Game's art, models, and audio, as long as they are changed for the mod, work only with the Game, and are not third-party components (Section 13). Referring to the Game's class and method names so a mod can work with them is fine.
- You may not sell a mod or earn money from it. This includes paywalls, paid subscriptions or early access to a mod, paid commissions, and requiring people to view ads to get it. These are fine:
- voluntary donations, one-time or recurring, as long as a donation unlocks nothing: everyone gets the same mod at the same time, whether they donate or not;
- hosting a mod on a site that shows ads or runs a reward program for mod authors;
- earning money from videos, streams, or tutorials about mods (Section 3).
- A mod may not unlock paid content, remove or bypass copy protection, or work around the limits of the demo.
- You may not use anything allowed by this Section to make a separate game or product that runs without the Game, or to publish the Game's code beyond the excerpts allowed above. Large mods, including total conversions, are fine as long as they need the Game to run.
- A mod may not be used to cheat or to harm other players in online sessions.
You keep the rights to the original work you put in your mod, and you may license that work as you choose, including as open source. We keep all rights in the Game and its assets, including any parts of them that a mod modifies.
You may use the Game's name and screenshots to describe your mod (for example, "a mod for Cubic Mage"), as long as you do not imply that the mod is official.
Mods are not made or endorsed by us. Using them is at your own risk, and we may not provide support for modified installations.
We may ask you to change or remove a mod at any time, even if it does not break these terms. If we ask, you must promptly make the change or remove the mod from wherever you shared it. If a mod breaks these terms, we will normally start with such a request. If you do not comply, or if the breach is serious, we may withdraw this permission for that mod.
5. Online play
Cubic Mage supports cooperative multiplayer through Steam. The host of a session controls the world being played, and sessions run directly between players. Be respectful to other players. We are not responsible for the conduct of other players.
6. In-game cheat panel and test features
The demo includes a cheat and test panel (F1) to help testers reach any part of the Game. Its use is entirely optional. Saves changed by it, or by any test feature, may behave unexpectedly.
7. Feedback
If you send us feedback through the Game (for example the "Send to Discord" feature), you give us permission to use that feedback to improve the Game, without payment to you. What the feedback feature sends is described in our Privacy Policy. Bug reports and suggestions may be posted on our public Discord boards.
8. Demo, early access, and updates
The demo and pre-release versions may contain bugs, may change, and may lose or reset save data. We may update the Game at any time, and some updates may be required to keep playing online.
9. Termination
This license ends automatically if you break this Agreement. A breach of the mod rules in Section 4 is instead handled as Section 4 describes, and ends this license only if it is serious or repeated. On termination you must stop using the Game and delete it from your devices. Sections 1 (ownership), 7, 10, 11, and 12 survive termination.
10. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in this Agreement limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Game. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Game (or zero for the free demo). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
12. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
13. Third-party software and content
The Game includes third-party software, fonts, and assets used under their own licenses, listed in the Game's credits or license notices. Those licenses apply to those components.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this Agreement. The current version will be available on the Game's store page or website. Questions: holyfoxgames@gmail.com.
